Last night, SGA held State Of The QUnion in the Carl Hansen Piazza where administrators were asked questions written by the students. Administrators that were present at the event included President John Lahey, Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Mark Thompson, Vice President and Dean of Students Manuel Carreiro, Senior Vice President for Administration Richard Ferguson, and Chief of Security and Safety David Barger. This event was a great chance for the students to meet the administrators of Quinnipiac and to hear their updates and answers to questions. A few topics that were talked about included updates on the new Medical School, student to faculty ratio, possible addition of a new shuttle system, space on campus, and ways to improve communication between the students and administration. Check out our photos below and an article written by The Chronicle here.

SGA went through 3 member changes from the fall 2012 semester to the spring 2013 semester. Congratulations to new members Robert Grant, Joe Rodriguez, and Kara Blakeslee on being sworn into the Student Government Association.
Before the fall semester ended, SGA got together to celebrate the holidays. We all participated in secret snowflake where each student was designated 1 person to give a gift to. Each of the cabinets also decided to make all kinds of different foods, desserts, and more! It was a great time to get together and have fun before leaving for winter break. Make sure you check out our photos below! With the fall semester over, we would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. As finals week is approaching, SGA would like to wish all of the students good luck on their tests and a happy holidays over winter break. We look forward to working with you all next semester! Have a safe and enjoyable break and we will see you all soon.
The Sophomore Class Cabinet recently put on their fall semester event called QUpermarket Sweep. The event, similar to the way the television show Supermarket Sweep is played, gave students the opportunity to win $100 on their meal plan and various gift cards to restaurants in the area. Kevin Carroll, a junior at Quinnipiac University and a comedian on the side, hosted the event and had the crowd laughing the whole time. Take a look at the pictures below! Congrats to the Sophomore Class Cabinet on a successful event.
The Senior Class Cabinet held their event, York Hill Puts Out 2, this past Sunday. The event was based on educating members in the community about fire safety. It was amazing to see a large crowd of students come out as well as residents from the surrounding area. There was food, games, an obstacle course, raffles, and a mock dorm room that was set on fire. A few of the prizes included Eli’s gift cards, a Spirit Package, and a lifetime pass to Aunchies. SGA would also like to give a special thanks to the Hamden Fire Department for helping out and spending the day with us.
This past weekend, members of SGA spent their Saturday evening doing community service with Best Buddies where we attended a dinner and a movie. Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization that creates an opportunity for one-to-one friendships and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Getting to know the buddies by doing fun activities, eating dinner, and watching Shark Tale was such a great time. SGA will be attending the Best Buddies karaoke event on December 1st in Buckman Theatre from 1-3pm if anyone would like to attend! In the meantime, check out our photos from the event below.
